Early Psychosis Intervention Program - Adult- Vancouver/Richmond

Provided by Vancouver Coastal Health

Provides early identification and treatment for first episode of psychosis. For residents of Vancouver and Richmond aged 18-30.
Provides early treatment for a suspected or confirmed first episode of psychosis, except where explained by another medical condition or drug-induced psychosis. Individuals who have concerns about themselves or on behalf of someone else can call their EPI program directly. You do not need a referral from a professional.
In some locations there are highly specialized EPI Programs that can offer a full range of interventions and supports. Other communities have a Mental Health Centre who can offer you help or connect you with resources.
British Columbia is working towards having a full range of EPI treatments and supports available everywhere in the province.
The Initial Assessment will include:
  • A thorough review of the client's information and diagnosis of psychotic disorder, psychiatric history, family history, functional history, and case management needs.
  • Occupational therapy assessment; functional and cognitive assessment.
  • Metabolic assessment; metabolic needs as related to psychopharmacology.
  • Review of medications / Pharmanet review.
Referrals must reside in the Vancouver area. For emergency services in Vancouver, call Access and Assessment Centre (AAC) at 604-875-8289.
